Sanka Multimedia Center Location Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Client Ethiomedia Plc Sheik Mohammed Al Amoudi Project completion 2015 Project cost $80 million USD Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Built up area: 25,000 sq.m ZIAS designed this sprawling mega-building to be a defining landmark and destination of Lafto district in Addis Ababa. Among its many functions, it will be a hub for modern media production, housing fully equipped TV and radio stations and a large movie theater. It includes an extensive shopping area, with anchor stores, a food court and specialty restaurants. Sanka is encompassed with articulated sun breakers to avert the sun’s glare from the west and southwestern directions. The building has reinforced concrete structure elements, serving to counterbalance the long, horizontal façade. |
